Forest Update

The Hostel is gearing up for the coming sweat lodge and birthday weekends! We’re filling up fast (next weekend is already booked up!), so make sure to call and make reservations if you want to be here for our 32nd birthday!
This last week, we were also able to harvest honey from our Hostel beehive! We have a beehive out at our main vegetable garden, and besides pollinating the area, the bees have provided us with a few gallons of honey! We would like to send out thanks to Ted Dennard, for not only the hive and equipment, but also for coming in to lead the harvesting efforts! To celebrate, we showed some bee-themed cartoons on our projector (which the children present, young and old, were greatly entertained by). In Further critter news, the baby ducks have been moved outside and are about to be housed in a outdoor coop while they grow!
Also, in other fun news, the Hostel has been overtaken by the spectre of scrabble. Matches have been held almost daily, so if anyone coming enjoys ‘America’s favorite word-game’, let us know!
Hanoch Schmalbach has joined the staff for awhile, and has been doing all sorts of repairs around the place. We have built some more selves for our chickens to sleep in, replaced some ceiling fans, fixed up a virtual fleet of bicycles, and our now in the process of rebuilding the floating dock at the lake! Hanoch has had tons of help with all of these projects, and we’re happy at all the great work thats being done!
And our wonderful guests continue to throw in and make the place shine. From the smallest of tasks to the largest of tasks, every bit is felt by us staff. The labyrinth has been cleaned by Kayvon and Rosalie, several girls from Savannah helped build the chicken shelves, our south American friends helped with bike repair as well as cooking us dinner one night, Stefy and Colette cooked another, and the list goes on! Thanks so much to everyone!
