Squash, Scrabble, and Southwoods:
Posted July 23rd, 2007
This last week at the Hostel, we did some much needed pathway repair by spreading new white sand over some of the more worn areas. The process took a lot of shoveling, and we’re thankful to everyone that helped with that project. We also took a trip to visit the nearby farm of some Hostel family, Jester and Marika’s place in Folkston. They have a wonderful place, with many chickens, a very nice garden, and some friendly goats (it makes us miss ours…).
In Hostel growth, we are happy to welcome Southwood back to the Hostel. He said he’s happy to be here, and we’re all glad that he’s around to spread his love and yummy cooking. He’ll have a lot to cook, as the garden is turning out giant fifteen pound Hopi squash!
Scrabble continues it’s hold on the Hostel, and last week we had an international game, when a family from Austria came in and played a game of ‘German scrabble’.
This next weekend is the full moon, which means the sweat lodge is quickly approaching. Its our second sweat since the Georgia fire ban, and we’re very much looking forward to it! We still need more sweat rocks, so if anyone is passing a river on their way here, grab us a rock or two! Other upcoming events include our midwife retreat on August 11th and 12th, as well as the labor day weekend “mind-body-spirit” retreat. We still have room for both of those retreats, so call and come visit us!
Until next week,
May The Forest Be With You…
