Weekly Update 2-04-2009

Posted February 4th, 2009

Winter continues in the forest with waves of faucet dripping nights and frost kissed kale. The garden is holding on with all it’s might during these 20 degree nights, but our abundance of arugala has begun to show signs of stress. Thanks to our loyal wood burning stove we’ve been able to stay warm during these months of winter introspection and board games.

Baby chicks have been born! After 28 days of incubation in the loft of our dome, 17 deliciously precious chickens have been brought into this thing we call “life.”The chicken channel has provided hours of entertainment for everyone and has also brought a delicate chirp background to our dome. With no time to waste, Ken has begun to enrich these chicks by reading bed time stories from the “The Little Prince.”

The warmth and brilliance of spring is right around the corner waiting to sprout us out of reflection and into creativity. We’ve taken this time to begin organizing our Spring Retreats and Workshops. March 20-22 will be our Food, Farming, and Nutritional Healing retreat weekend, an entire weekend focused on everything that fast food is not, reservations are now being taken. Here are some other workshops that we’re working on: Yoga, Alternative Fuel, Spiritual Healing, & Artist Retreat. If you’re interested leading and/or attending these workshops then feel free to give us a call. More information about the retreats will be posted as soon as they’re available.

This week has also been a week of goodbyes. Ken the Werewolf, Mike Joe, and Oren, we wish you all peace and love on your journeys and we are grateful for every bit of love that you’ve shared with the forest. May the forest be with you.

This upcoming week we look forward to a sweat lodge on the full moon, a candle making workshop on Saturday by Mr. Wood Chip, and plenty of warm nights around the stove. Peace & Love

May the Forest Be With You
