Writers Retreat with Peach Mahoney at The Hostel in the Forest
Join Peach Mahoney and Chelsea Richards, Friday, April 3rd - Monday, April 5th, 2026 for a weekend of creative expression, embodied connection, and shared reflection. Through poetry, movement, partner play, nature writing, and intentional conversation, we’ll explore where we come from, how we relate, and what wants to be expressed now. Rooted in presence and community, the weekend invites both depth and lightness — offering space to be seen, to listen, to create, and to belong.
Event Details
Date: Friday, April 3rd - Monday, April 5th, 2026
Location: The Hostel in the Forest, Brunswick, GA
Open to: Overnight guests and day visitors
Cost: This spring, we’re intentionally experimenting with a more accessible retreat model. Our hope is to host at least one retreat like this each year—rooted in community care rather than high ticket pricing—and this is our first step in trying that out.
Overnight guests will not pay beyond our standard sliding scale. While contributions at the higher end are deeply encouraged to help sustain this experience, there is no additional set retreat fee. As always, those who feel called to contribute more are invited to do so.
Day visitors are warmly welcome to join the events as well. Standard day pass rates apply ($10–20), with an additional cost for dinner.
To make your overnight reservation or reserve your spot, call us at 912-264-9738.
Retreat Schedule
Friday, April 3rd
9:00 PM | Moonlit Movement
Location: Glass House
A softly lit, candlelit yoga session led by Chelsea, illuminated with flameless electric candles — an invitation to move gently and land in the body after the day.
Saturday, April 4th
10:30 AM | “Where I’m From” Poetry Gathering
Location: Library or Art Lab
We’ll open the weekend with a guided Where I’m From poem inspired by George Ella Lyon. This practice offers a meaningful and creative way to introduce ourselves and begin weaving the threads of community. I’d love to display the poems on the porch for the duration of the weekend.
3:00 PM | Words by the Water
Prompt: When was a time nature spoke and you listened?
Location: Lake
A guided writing session featuring twenty minutes of silent, nature-immersed reflection, followed by optional group sharing for those who feel called.
9:00 PM | Spoken Word Open Mic
Location: Library
An intimate, mic-free evening for voices to rise. A welcoming space for writers and storytellers to share a piece with the group.
Sunday, April 5th
10:30 AM | Letter Writing Workshop
Location: Art Lab
A one-hour, free-form letter writing session with optional prompts for inspiration. All materials provided — stationery, envelopes, and wax seals — to craft something tangible and heartfelt.
12:00 PM | Closing Circle
We’ll gather in gratitude — sharing thank yous, closing reflections, and favorite moments from the weekend. I’ll conclude by inviting and encouraging the group to give back to the hostel through a Dirt Church session.
About Peach
Peach studied to be a high school English teacher during her undergrad, but has found true fulfillment in connecting with others through the written word outside of the classroom. She believes that poetry is the language of emotion, and that through it, we have the ability to more deeply connect with ourselves and others. Aside from interpreting the world and herself through writing, she finds joy through building connections, communing with nature, and traveling.
About Chelsea
Chelsea is a yoga teacher who loves to help people re-connect with themselves through movement, breath, and meditation. She teaches Hatha yoga and focuses on slow flows to build the breath-mind-body connection. Outside of yoga she fills her life with sweet moments of community-building, gardening, listening to live music, dancing, and being outdoors.
