Watercolor Workshop Part I with Kelly Tolley

Watercolor Workshop Part I with Kelly Tolley at The Hostel in the Forest

Join artist, Kelly Tolley on Friday, April 24th, 2026 for a hands-on workshop with watercolor. All supplies are provided, just bring yourself!

This session will be Part 1 of the class. You’ll begin with a short technique lesson, then move into guided practice exercises so everyone can get comfortable with the basics and start exploring ideas for their final project.

To keep things playful and intuitive, Kelly will be working with two bowls—one filled with color harmonies and the other with techniques. We’ll draw one from each at random (and possibly a second round if time allows!) to inspire our creative direction.

Together, you’ll explore:

  • A color harmony theory: complementary, analogous, split complementary, monochromatic, neutral + accent, or warm vs. cool

  • A watercolor technique: wet-on-wet, color bloom, splatter, lifting color, dry brush, or salt texture

Part 2 of this class will take place on Saturday, where we’ll build on these foundations and move into creating a more developed final piece.
