Hawkeye

When there is an incident of a hawk attack on the chicken coup, it rarely has a happy ending for the chicken. However, when a hawk was spotted flying from the coup with a young hen in its clutches, the hen was holding onto hope just as tightly. When pursued, the hawk finally abandoned its prey and we were able to recover the hen. She sustained a few minor injuries which were treated and she was fed a nutrient dense elixir to help her recover from the shock. Now she has quite the story to share with her fellow hens, of how she flew above the treeline with a hawk and survived. She has definitely earned her new name, Hawkeye.

Hawkeye is out of intensive care and gaining strength everyday. She has a message to those that might have an open ear or heart to hear, and that is in the words of T. Fuller, “It is always darkest before the dawn.” She also adds that “If you can’t fly, then run, if you can’t run, then walk, if you can’t walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, keep moving forward.” -Martin Luther King Jr.

Hawkeye is a reminder that hope takes many forms, and sometimes it is pint sized and feathered
